Can you feel it? There is a change in the air. Not only because we see longer days and a bit more sunshine due to it being May and springtime, but there is a definite change in people's attitudes. Perhaps I am just noticing what is important to me now. We often have our reticular activators attuned to whatever is happening in our lives, perhaps this is what I am experiencing.
What is our reticular activator? The reticular activator system, or RAS is a part of the brain that has a big role in making your goals happen. It is the part that gets turned on when you are focused on something, or experience something exciting. For instance, when you test drive or purchase a new car, have you noticed that you now see that car everywhere, where before you seldom noticed it? Or, think of walking through a busy airport with lots of noise. Do you pay much attention to the noise? Probably not. But, what if an announcement comes over the speakers concerning your flight? Your ears perk up and you listen. This is your RAS in action.
Advertisers know this system and use it to get you to notice their products over another one. We can train our RAS system, to find out more please visit this site: www.set-your-goals.com .
I recently started school at Marylhurst University near Lake Oswego, OR. I decided to study Business & Leadership with a sub focus on Organizational Communication. I have realized that in my many years of helping clients buy and sell homes, investment properties and working with other Realtors that my love is in communications. Yet, I can not forget my business background. I am very thankful for each of my relationships with clients and agents which has lead me to this path of obtaining a higher education. I plan on using my degree within the foundation my husband's company is organizing, and to help other business owners to grow their business. Stay tuned for other posts on how this process is going.
